From the top of Mt. Crumpit

Donation protected

The fire is roaring, the chill has set in

Cooper keeps reminding me I'm late once again

The New Year is coming, just like the last

before we know it all our friends will be here celebrating

The Year thats just passed

We are asking again

for the dogs big and small

for any donation, anything at all

We take blankets and dog beds and leashes slightly used

( ones that your dog used once and then politely refused)

Beds for the elders, and treats for them all

A coat for the chilled, a bowl and better yet, see that its filled

When you are out shopping for your own furry friend

Throw in an extra item or two

for a dog on the mend.

Cooper loads up the van on January One

Heads downtown for some Howl a Day fun

We will let you know the when and the where,

In hopes you and your dogs will be sure to be there

Imagine the difference we all get to make,

giving a little, just for the dogs sake

Then watch as a light goes on in the friends eyes

as they see that goodwill still survives.

Then all the dogs in Whoville ( or at Dogpatch Resort)

will join hand in paw and howl with pride

at what you have all done to help others survive.

Sorry about these rhymes every year, but I did name it for a Dr. Suess Story so I feel it neccessary.

Dogpatch Resort is reaching out to all of you to show what a lot of people doing a little can achieve.  We know all of you have your own causes that you support.  This is our way of making it easy for you to give to some causes that are very close to the heart of Dogpatch Resort.  Every Year I fall short on thank-you notes and follow up, and yet every year Coopers friends step up and we are able to make a difference in our community.  Mt. Crumpit Run is named for the trip the Grinch took back to Whoville with the sled full of toys and Max the dog riding shotgun.  I am not a registered non profit, I can't provide reciepts. Pretty much you have to trust that I will distribute our funds to the charities that we chose this year in the best way possible.  While cash is always appreciated, we also take ANY TYPE OF DOG RELATED ITEM.  I gather them up in the WOOFMOBILE every day from now until January 1st, and we deliver them to the needy dogs in our area. Once again this year we have chosen the PAW team as one of our recipients.  I have attended the clinics that the PAW team gives in Portland.  They provide veterinary care for low income and homeless in our area.  The majority of homeless are either veterans or mentally challenged.  Often their dogs are what keeps them going.  PAW team provides food, medicine, ongoing care, and spay and neuters.  What impressed me most about this team was the way they would reach out to the human and ask how they were doing.  Many of these homeless folks would seek out care and food for their pets, and not for themselves.  This organization shows them the way to get much needed support.

We also plan to provide support to the TIllamook Animal Shelter.  While this one is a little far from home, it is supported by several of our favorite rescue groups.  It is a no kill shelter, 100% volunteer and funded solely by donations. The animals are loved and the volunteers work tirelessly to find homes for them all. The animals are housed outdoors and it is an amazing amount of work to keep them all warm, dry and healthy.  They are always in need of blankets, towels, etc.  Remember, items do not have to be new as the dogs don't care if someone slept in the bed before them.
So....from now until January first I will be gathering items.  You can simply bring them to the Party Van, or have them ready when I pick your dog up for boarding for their howl a day vacation.
If you aren't scheduled to be downtown, shoot us an email and one of our elves will be sure to pick up anything you have.
We will keep you posted on where the party is going to be On New Years morning.
Thank you so much as always for your support
