Victory For Mozart's Community Garden
Donation protected
Mozart's Community Garden is a neighborhood Community Garden in the beginning stages. The Garden is a project to better serve the Community on the South
East Corner of Humboldt Park in Chicago Illinois. We are a
collaboration of neighbors to
bring more community space to the area, growing our own food in a food
desert, beautifying the area and growing as a community. The garden's
location is on an empty Chicago Housing Authority lot at the corner of Mozart and Walton
Avenue which has been vacant for over 16 years.
The vision of this garden is a Children's garden where children can grow their own sunflowers, sugar snap peas, and bean teepees. We would like to also provide Gardening classes, neighbors will provide instruction on water preservation, composting, plant care, nutrition and cooking with fresh produce.
Cultural activities will involve art instruction and entertainment that will be provided by neighborhood artists such as musicians and professional potters.
Community engagement - We would like to install raised beds with seating for our neighbors who are elderly and disabled.
