Morris Family Adoption

Did you know there are over 153 MILLION orphans world wide?
Most of these orphans are teenagers and most people looking to adopt, do not want a child over 2.  

We became parents, without even realizing it.  We became Mom and Dad to a 16 year old boy, this past summer.  We hadn't planned to host, but were asked to be a backup family to Zhenya and after many "no's" we finally said yes.  It was the best thing we could have done.  Zhenya is from Ukraine and was looking for his forever family.  He's an amazing kid, with a heart of gold.  He loves cars and legos and building things with his hands.  He's smart and funny and a well behaved boy.  He fit into our family right away and we fell for him.  When he left, our house was empty.  Our hearts were empty.  And then we knew....we had to adopt this boy.  Zhenya was thrilled that he would become a Morris.

So, here we are, 9 months later, deep in our adoption process.  We have made our 1st of 3 trips to Ukraine already.  On trip #1, Zhenya choose us to be his parents.  We leave for our 2nd trip on May 7th.  We will go to court with our boy and make the adoption official.  After that, there is a mandatory 30 day wait and then I will go back to Ukraine, to finish the adoption.  I will be over there for approx 4-6 weeks, getting birth certificates, new passports, medical exams, etc.  It's a very long and very expensive trip.  But oh so worth it, as I get to bring Zhenya home with me.  There will be no more goodbye's.  No more "I promise we'll come back," no more parenting from 6000+ miles away.  Zhenya will be a Morris.
