Montana's Medical Mission to Nepal

Donation protected

Family and Friends,
As many of you know, I am a third year undergraduate
student at Virginia Tech, majoring in French with a Pre-Physician
Assistant track. I am very excited to share with you about something that is happening in my college career. Entering college, I had no idea how God wanted me to use me in this world. It did not take longfor God to provide me with comfort and direction in my decision to study medicine. The summer of my sophomore year I was privileged to shadow my uncle, Dr. Scott Rissmiller, at Carolinas Medical Center. This experience solidified my passion for medicine, and it left me with eager determination to serve the Lord in this field. I began by spending the spring of 2013 earning an Emergency Medical Technician
certification.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve on a
medical missions project this March to Nepal. The trip will be from March 8 to March 23. We wil be traveling to a city in Nepal called Kathmandu. It is located in South Asia and is bordered by India and China. The country inhabits the Himalaya mountain range. More than 80% of Nepal practices Hinduism and less than 2% of the population is Christian.
The clinics where my team will be working are located in
remote parts of the mountains in Nepal where medical attention is most needed. The team will hike to the clinics, because the area is too remote for roads to reach. On average, 400+ patients travel to the clinic by foot each day. The doctors and I will be working for 8 days, around the clock. Because of my EMT certification, I have been trained to assess the patient's conditions and determine their course of treatment; manage respiratory, cardiac, traumatic, and childbirth emergencies; triage the patients based on the severity of their conditions, and document any medical care given. My presence on the team will increase the efficiency of the clinic, allowing the doctors to treat the maximum amount of patients per day.
The team I am going with has also established 19 churches in the past five years and is in the process of expanding. These people are eager for a Saviour spiritually and physically. This trip will not only be invaluable to the people of Nepal, but will be personally invaluable to my education and a spiritual adventure.

The trip's expenses are $2,800 consisting of air and ground
travel, and food. We will be staying on the clinic's grounds in tents and will provided with food from the locals who live and work at the clinic.
I am asking for your help financially and for your support
through prayer. Any donation would be extremely helpful and would be more appreciated than you know! Any extra donations will be given to the year-round medical and ministry teams in Nepal. All extra donations made will go to the team in Nepal year round. Our trip will help them tremendously but they have minial resources and aid due to the poverty of the country. Any small donation will help the clinics provide better quality of care and change more lives.

Thank you for allowing me to share in this experience with you. I
cannot express my appreciation for your help and prayers.

With love,
Montana Basilio
