Miss Black KS USA 2013 Pageant

Greetings!!!

I am greatly honored to announce that I, Natasha S. Houston, have been selected to participate in the 2013 Miss Black KS Pageant. The Miss Black Kansas USA Pageant exemplifies the intelligence and beauty of African-American ladies in the state of Kansas. The goal of the Miss Black Kansas Pageant is to showcase the intellect, talent, and beauty of these women, to the community. This years crowning presentation is scheduled to take place September 15, 2012.

I am a 2008 alumnus of the Historically Black University, Hampton University "The Standard of Excellence". There I received my B.S. in Marketing, graduating in the top 10% of my graduating class with multiple honors. In addition, I participated in many extra-curricular activites. These activities included but are not limited to participation in organizations such as Student Leadership and Women's Caucus.

Having had diverse post-graduate experiences in various professional arenas of Arts and Entertainment, it is my goal to ultimately combine my passions for youth outreach and the art of creative communication to assist in pushing them to pursue greatness. In addition, believing that a public platform first begins behind the scenes, my community involvement has formerly extended (but is not limited to) the following areas:

- America's Next Natural Model National contestant

- Christian radio show co-host (Detroit broadcasting)

- Creative arts youth director

- Inspirational web article contributor

- Inspirational communicator (college campuses and faith    based organizations)

- Wichita's Miss Fashionetta 2003

-The Wichita Urban League (Youth Empowerment counselor)

-Youth teacher, minister and mentor

-Youthville (volunteer driver)

-Wichita Colts Cheerleading (former volunteer coach) 

As I have committed to run this race, torch in hand, I am requesting your assistance to extend the reach to serve with a platform of advocacy for the holistic building of strong children. I am for the well-being of our children. To be crowned Miss Black KS would ensure a full year of my personal service to both young women and youth in the state of KS, through targeted outreach and community service programs.
