Medical Supplies for Innocent Kids in Sri Lanka
Spende geschützt
Sri Lanka is experiencing the worst economic crisis in more than 70 years. Basic necessities such as food, fuel, electricity and medical supplies have become scarce. The economic crisis has turned into a humanitarian crisis.
While the crisis has spared no one, innocent children are starting to pay a disproportionate price. The largest government-funded children’s hospital in the region, Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, faces shortages in medication and surgical supplies (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-61111405). Other hospitals have also suspended elective surgeries due to shortages in anesthetic medication, suture material, the number of laboratory tests available (https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/4/11/sri-lanka-doctors-warn-of-catastrophic-deaths-amid-shortages).
We are coordinating with Tarana Foundation (https://www.taranafoundation.org/), a not-for-profit organization on the ground in Sri Lanka, to purchase and distribute the supplies according to local needs. While there is a transaction fee of approximately 2.9% collected by gofundme, 100% of the funds we receive from gofundme will go towards the purchase and distribution of the supplies to the hospitals. Please note that tipping gofundme an additional amount is not necessary.
Please consider contributing as no donation is too small. The first $10,000 raised through this gofundme (Medical Supplies for Innocent Kids in Sri Lanka) and Tarana Foundation (Support Sri Lankan Hospitals’ Urgent Medical Needs) will be matched through Global Giving by Anand Srinivasan and Tammy Perera of Austin, Texas. The second $10,000 will be matched by an anonymous donor.
