Hello! My name is Dylan Kahler and I'm a current freshman at The University of California, Berkeley.
My life philosophy is simple: I find fulfillment through the joy I bring to others. After arriving on campus, I searched for opportunities to use my energy for the betterment of my communities. After learning about the MedLife global initiative, I knew I'd found just that.
MedLife is an organization that partners with low-income communities in Latin America to improve their access to medicine, education, and community development initiatives. Through MedLife, I have the opportunity to travel to Lima, Peru this winter break to work for a mobile health clinic, providing healthcare to underprivileged families. Additionally, I'll work with my team to build schools, staircases, houses, bathrooms, roads, and whatever is needed from the community. This project speaks to the core of what I believe in. In the end, I know I'll learn invaluable life-lessons about empathy, community, and servitude from the people I meet in Peru; however, the expenses of this trip cannot be covered from my summer job earnings alone.
That's why I'm asking you to consider helping me embark on such a rare mission: so that I can help provide healthcare to underprivileged families, aide in building necessary infrastructure, and learn from the Peruvian people.
