Help Mawin Bring the Kids Home

Family, friends, and fellow staff of Providence Alaska Medical Center. Our beloved Mawin and her family need our help!

Mawin and her husband are refugees from South Sudan and have been in the States for 16 years. Mawin works in housekeeping at PAMC and is raising 7 kids of her own, two of whom are 17 and 19.

Within the past few months, Mawin's parents (Awout and Dal), passed unexpectedly, leaving behind 4 children without anyone to care for them. The picture you see above is 12 year old Nugan, 8 year old Aguak, and 10 year old Machar. They have no other family and their future is bleak in this war and famine ravaged country. The other youth (not pictured) is 16 year old Abal who will stay in Sudan.

It is our goal to help Mawin's family raise money to  adopt the 3 younger children.  She'll initially need travel funds to go there to obtain necessary credentials and documents. On our end, it costs over $800 per child to apply for Dept. of Homeland Security Clearance. In addition to background checks, adoption home studies, and miscellaneous fees, we are anticipating thousands of dollars needed.

Friends, please if you can help in any way it would mean the world to the family and these children.  It is common to feel overwhelmed and helpless with so much suffering going on in this world, without knowing how to help or where to begin, this is true, but here and now there are three children you can directly help! What greater gift could be given than the benefit of safety, security, love, and hope?
