We all have our favorite stories of our times spent laughing and joking with Mariam Shah.
When I met Mariam she gave me a huge hug as though we had already known each other for years. We've since bonded over incredible meals, we've laughed until tears stream down our face, and she has helped me through tough times, as I’m sure she has done for you as well.
Now Mariam needs our help.
Mariam has been struggling to save money for her immigration lawyer. This has been incredibly difficult for her to accomplish alone, and she still owes $3500. The application process includes an in-person interview, and due to the backlog of cases, her lawyer said it would be a couple of years before she would be called in for one. However, she has been scheduled for an interview sooner than expected. While her lawyer has been very kind and understanding of her financial struggles, Mariam must pay in full as soon as possible in order to proceed.
I wouldn’t have gotten through college without Mariam as a friend by my side. I even started the process of transferring schools, but when Mariam and I were placed in the same house, I decided to stay.
