Blaha Home

In October, my mom (Lois Blaha) had a stroke. Over the last few weeks she has made some great progress toward her recovery; however, there are still quite a few challenges that she will have when she returns home from rehab. Certain changes will have to be made on the house in order for the space to be safe and accomodating for her to live. Beginning the week of Thanksgiving, we will start a month long process of making adjustments to the house that we hope will be helpful and even necessary for her to return home. 

The main projects that will need to be addressed are the following:

1) The kitchen will need to be safe and handicap friendly. 
2) The flooring in much of the house will need to be replaced with hard flooring for ease of movement and safety. 
3)The bathroom(s) will need to be made handicap friendly so that the they will be safe and easy to use. 

There are a number of other smaller tasks that will need to be done as well. 

My mother has made her home a place to serve and care for the homeless and hurting for as long as I can remember. It was normal for her to have someone (or more than one person) living in her house so that she could care for them until they were able to get back on their feet. What we hope to do is to help make her home a place that she too could find saftey and comfort to continue to serve others.
