Support of MSD DC March

Many members of the Baker family have been asking …

“How they can be helpful after the tragic school shooting in Parkland Florida on Valentine’s day?”

Many are injured, 17 school community members died, and the lives of the entire school, community, state, and even nation were changed forever. Nothing can undo what has been done but, students are taking up the leadership on issues to try to make their political leaders and all adults listen and change the circumstances that lead to this. One of the ways the students are doing this is by heading to Washington D.C. for the March for our Lives even on March 24th. Students hope to use their presence at the March to further the national discussion on what happened at their school.

So how can we help?

Individuals can make their own choices about whether and how to get engaged in the political issues. But in the meantime, anyone who wants to help support the surviving students is welcome to join an informal, unofficial fundraising campaign started by many in the Miami office to support the effort. In Miami, one of our very own has a son who is a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas and who was there during the attack. He is a survivor and has inspired many of the rest of us to join the fight to make sure this never happens again.

What do the students need?

They need money for busses to get as many of the 3000 students in the school district to Washington, DC for the MARCH FOR OUR LIVES event on March 24th.
