On behalf of Millions Against Monsanto Toronto, the Toronto chapter of the Organic Consumers Association's worldwide Millions Against Monsanto campaign, THANK YOU for your support this past year! Since September 2012 when fifteen of us gathered for an Occupy Monsanto demonstration, our network has grown to more than 8,000 people on Facebook and Twitter!
Each one of you has contributed in creating this awareness about Monsanto, the health and environmental risks associated with GMOs and the importance of Seed and Food Freedom in Canada and around the world.
Last year, Toronto's third MARCH AGAINST MONSANTO brought approx 3,000 of us together in Queen's Park.
Now, if you have ever planned an event before, you understand the amount of time and resources that go into planning, staging and promoting it successfully. The MARCH AGAINST MONSANTO - TORONTO is no different, and as such, we at Millions Against Monsanto Toronto are humbly asking for your help to make this an awesome event.
Any contribution, no matter how big or small, will help to cover out-of-pocket costs associated with obtaining speakers, musicians, A/V and sound equipment rental, advertising and promotion (like printing of postcards, posters, signs, pamphlets, etc.) and dozens of miscellaneous items.
Any funds left over from the MARCH AGAINST MONSANTO - TORONTO will be put back into the Millions Against Monsanto Toronto organization and used for future GMO-related events and initiatives. Additionally, if you are a business donating to the March, we will gladly post your logo and thank you on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
So what exactly is the MARCH AGAINST MONSANTO?
The MARCH AGAINST MONSANTO is a global call to action aimed at informing the public, calling into question long-term health and environmental effects of genetically modified foods and demanding that GMO products be labeled so that consumers can make informed decisions. On this day we rise up in solidarity with millions around the globe marching for Seed and Food Freedom!
Why We March?
- Boycott GMOs
- End patents on seed
- Protect our food supply
- Support local farmers
- Promote organic solutions & a sustainable agriculture
- Expose the cronyism between big business & the government
- Bring accountability to those responsible for the corruption
- Demand regulatory modernization of the Novel Foods Act
- Further scientific research on the health effects of GMOs
