Ebola Relief - Orphanages

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Colleagues:

As you know, I visited Paynesville, Kakata, and Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa in March of this year, and your generous support enabled me to go and learn about our brothers and sisters living in another world. While there, I connected with 5 churches in 5 different areas of the country that were gathering families and loving and supporting one another with whatever means they had.  I was afforded an opportunity to speak words of faith to them in a crusade wherein some 800 people gathered nightly, many walking for miles in the pitch black to hear this little woman from America.  I was also able to perform a wedding and teach a marriage enrichment class.  I tried to carry water on my head, but I thought the weight of it would crush my neck.  I visited the Foreign Ministry and officially organized the Gospel Workers Support Network, consisting of those 5 leaders, and I've been granted the grace to serve as their Vice President.  I know this was a divine assignment.

It is with a heavy heart that we, as a community, face the devastation brought on by the Ebola virus that is rampant throughout Liberia. I am informed daily of the deaths that are occurring in the  villages that I lived and visited. The family that housed me has lost their sister, leaving two young children behind.  The pastor that invited me lost his uncle and uncle's wife, with two children also orphaned.  In one community alone, 25 families were affected, leaving many orphaned children.  When I heard this news, I immediately dispatched Pastor Emmanuel to look for homes big enough to rent, and volunteers whose hearts were big enough to be their "brother's keeper" and become surrogate parents to these orphaned children.

I know that I'm called to serve those affected by this terrible situation.  But I cannot do it alone.  I'm requesting the aid of my family, friends, business associates and the like to join our cause, uplift those in need, and raise the broken and wounded to their feet. When our fellow men have been affected in ways like this, what was once a shelter of comfort and peace in one's life becomes disrupted by sadness and fear of the unknown.  Who will stand by them with an outstretched hand?  Who will be there to lift them up?

In the Christian faith, we are taught through Jesus and the Parable of the Good Samaritan that we never leave another person abandoned, but instead we do everything in our power to share love, understanding, and comfort as Christ showed us (Luke 10:30-37).

Helen Kennedy Ministries, Inc . is asking you to donate a gift of any amount so that we, not just as a ministry, but also as a caring community, can provide the strongest force of support possible.  We would like to reach a goal of $10,000.00 by Christmas, 2014, and with your support, we will be much closer to making this dream a reality.

“But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.  He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine.  Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him.  The next day he took out two silver coins, and gave them to the innkeeper.  'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'  Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?  The expert in the law replied, 'The one who had mercy on him.'  Jesus told him, 'Go and do likewise.'”   Luke 10:33-37 (NIV)

Thank you for your support in touching the lives of the people of Liberia with God's love. Your contributions are tax-deductible. For more information, you may visit: helenkennedyministries.org .
