Let’s help Leighton

This year we are raising funds for a special young boy.  Leighton who is 8 was born with a brain disorder called Lissencephaly (smooth brain).  This is an extremely rare and untreatable condition which has a limited life span of approx.  11 years.  

Due to his condition, Leighton is left visually impaired, has severe epilepsy (can have up to 50 seizures a day) but this is currently controlled via medication to approx 3 per day.  He has major global development delay and is unable to walk, talk or eat.  All medication, water, and food goes through a tube in his stomach.  He is wheelchair bound and has no head or muscle control.

He is a most amazing little fighter and his family love him dearly.  His family care for him 100% and have adapted there home to make his life as comfortable as possible.

We are going to carry a out a number of events this year to raise funds to help the family continue there efforts to make Leighton comfortable within his own home.  We want to help them build a changing/shower area within his room.  Disability equipment is expensive along with the required refurb work, so let’s raise some money and help this special young boy.

Due to COVID we have had to change our ride, we were meant to cycle the coast to coast In May but are now going to cycle to Anglesey and back which is approx 120 miles on August 15th.

(Our first challenge will involve 6 of us (with an additional 2 supporting) cycling from the east coast to west coast of England.  We will be dipping our back wheels into the Irish Sea and then cycling across the Lake District and Pennines to the North Sea where we will complete the challenge  by dipping our front wheels in the North Sea.  The ride will be completely self funded with all money raised going to this special cause.)
