Kristin walks 900km for BBBS Niagara and BTC
Kristin walks 900km for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Niagara and the Bruce Trail Conservancy.
*20% of donations raised will go to the Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC). Currently, 32% of the Bruce Trail is not permanently protected and is vulnerable to development. Through donations, the BTC purchases and preserves Niagara Escarpment land (a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve). This protects wetlands, karst topography, open meadows, caves, scarp edges and lush forests.
The Bruce Trail is Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath, from Niagara to Tobermory. Kristin has decided to hike the entire 900km in one push. She will be starting the Bruce Trail in Niagara-on-the-Lake June 29th and finishing in Tobermory August 4th, taking 37 days and averaging ~27km a day.
A little more about Kristin: Kristin is from Niagara Falls, Ontario currently working as a paramedic with Niagara EMS and as an occasional teacher with the DSBN. She's been a volunteer Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Niagara for 5 years. Kristin has always loved being active, especially if it's outdoors!
Why Big Brothers Big Sisters: Kristin wants to raise money for this fantastic organisation as she has seen first hand the positive impact it has on children and youth in Canada who struggle with societal barriers and face adversities in their lives.
With the guidance and support of a mentor, just like Kristin, risks can be reduced or even avoided, and youth are reminded they can be anything they dream of being.
