KCP: covid-19 emergency food donations

Donation protected
During my time in Rwanda, now a little over a year ago, I had the privilege of being introduced to the Kinamba Community Project, a UK-based non-profit that provides education and support to vulnerable children and families in the Kinamba community of Kigali. As some of you know, my time in Rwanda was extremely special to me, and this project was one of the reasons! I was inspired by the work they do in the community,  intervening at a critical point in the children's education, providing a classroom setting, food program, athletic competitions (I had an incredible time helping coach their soccer team), dancing classes, art lessons, and so much more for these kids and their families. Check out the organization here: https://kinambaproject.org.uk/
I'm still trying to find a way to get back there to one day visit again!

Given these crazy and difficult times, it seems as though everyone is feeling the impact of the coronavirus. I know many are struggling in the States, and the families in Kinamba are no different. The city of Kigali is on "lockdown", and many of the families at the foundation rely on day labor for income to buy food each day and no work means no food. The project is doing their best to support these families with basic food essentials and soap, and they could use your help!!!

The project is hoping to distribute essentials to a list of 200 or so families for at least the next three weeks or so. They've already raised around $4,000 but are aiming for over $10,000 in order to provide this emergency relief. I know every penny goes a long way for these vulnerable families, and it would be mean a ton to me to be able to contribute to their emergency fund. Your support no matter the amount would be so greatly appreciated – I know this is a difficult time to be doing a fundraiser, so thank you in advance for even reading this and considering! If you'd like to donate, this page would work just fine or you can venmo me @Brendan-Barth-1.
You can also check their total amount raised for the relief (in pounds) here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=EmmaTooth3&pageUrl=1&fbclid=IwAR1kB3-mqqfamBTXDihy_zsxNoXb9DfUzF88xsYtCukMo8rzNHi-KuI1ZR0

If anyone has an interest in joining their mailing list to see progress or being a sponsor down the road for a child at the project, let me know and I will help set it up!

I was fortunate while I was there to help coach their U9 and U11 soccer team for some time – memories I will never forget. Photos attached! If you'd like some footage of my time there, go to 1:00 into this video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/176hnJkueTfLnI6F4HAADZaZBOaUU54Oe/view
And if you're really bored, watch the whole thing!
