Kiante Campbell Farewell Fund
Donation protected
Greetings Friends and Community Members,
It brings us great sadness to experience the loss of Kiante Campbell. On February 1, 2013, a voracious heart stopped beating and a promising future was ended, when 18-year old Kiante was murdered in Oakland, CA at the First Friday Art Murmur event. This young man, with his intelligent mind and with much to contribute to our community, became another victim of gun violence.
The Gateway to College program at Laney College team - made up of educators, counselors, students, and friends of Kiante - humbly ask for your help in funding burial and memorial services for Kiante. All funds raised will go directly to help Kiante's family and supporters pay for related funeral expenses.
About Kiante:
Kiante was only 18-years old. He had kind, spirited nature with goals and dreams. Kiante was a part of our Gateway program for two semesters, working hard to reach his life goals by going to community college. Kiante was much more than a self-proclaimed "hustler by birth, gangster by law," he was a survivor a resilient soul, a bright, auspicious student and a member of our Gateway family and the Laney College community. At the time of his death, Kiante was a part of the Bunche Continuation School community. Kiante was committed to breaking through the fog of violence, poverty, and apathy that continues to devastate the Oakland community, by going to college and as a means to achieve success.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ensure this young man has a proper farewell.
We thank you,
