Katie's Special Ed School Needs Bicycles
Spende geschützt
January 16th 2020, we lost our beautiful daughter Katie Borchers. She was our special needs baby and our entire world for 21 short years. Life will never be the same without her.
Katie loved life, family and school. She attended Greengate School in Woodland California for 18 years, nearly her entire life. At Greengate she flourished and became an amazing young lady. We believe without Green Gate, Katie would have been a different person. Special needs schools and teachers work very hard to help our loved ones grow, learn and live life to the fullest. Katie's teacher was there everyday to help Katie realize a dream of working at a real job, socializing with peers, and having a fuller life beyond just living.
Of the many things Katie loved, one was trying to learn how to ride a bike. A few years ago all the school's bikes were stolen. This fundraiser is for the school to be able to purchase new bikes. These dual bikes will allow both students and staff to ride at the same time. This will allow the students who can't ride by themselves experience what a bike ride is like. The specialized bikes needed are very expensive and cost thousands per bike. We are asking to help us raise the funds to purchase 2 of these unique bikes for the school. It will be Katie's way of saying she loved you all and to remember her anytime someone rides the bike. A second gift will be a custom handicapped friendly bench for kids and staff to use outside near the playground. This would be Katie's special place!
Any help you can provide would be amazing. Katie would have wanted nothing less than pure joy for her school and classmates. Thank you for reading and I hope you can help us make this dream come true.
******Update******* We have made huge strides towards the first bike! We are so close, thank you all so very much.
