Who we are
We're a non governmental organization based in Naivasha, Kenya. Our core staff and volunteer team is mainly made up Kenyans as well as international volunteers that come through IVHQ.
What we do
We work alongside local slum communities to tackle the root cause of poverty. Our main focus is the most vulnerable children living in Naivasha slums. We provide: food & nutrition, education, health and child sponsorship. We work alongside parents & guardians, primary schools and our local community. Our vision is an empowered, independent and resourceful human society.
Problem statement
To date all the food costs have been met through public donations to keep projects running. This in the long term is not sustainable and so a solution is to grow crops in a high yield capacity, to boost the volume of available food and kick start a new channel for generating income as donations
Our solution: A sustainable green future
Our solution is large scale farming for nutrition of the children and income generation where profits are invested back into the projects as donations.
This is a future where projects can sustain all activities, and grow and develop in ways not seen before.
Where money is needed: For 17 acres.
Soil preparation : Manure, fertilizer, pesticide, tractors to prepare the fields.
Seed: Planting most suitable crops for our environment starting with cabbages, tomatoes, French (green) beans.
Training: for best practises, opportunities, knowledge & eduction
Labour: for the preparation of the land, planting of crops, watering, harvesting and maintenance will all be carried out by our local community under the guidance of a local farm manager.
