Spokane K9 Laslo's Bulletproof Vest

Donation protected
Calling all dog-lovers and Laslo fans!

Thanks to your generosity we successfully vested Spokane County Sheriff's K9 Deacon, now it's time to give Spokane's renowned K9 Laslo the same level of protection!

Since K9 Laslo and Deputy Jeff Thurman became partners and hit the streets in April 2013, Laslo has made more than 250 captures. Some were bites, some were bad guys surrendering simply after hearing Laslo's bark or seeing his presence. But that's 250 armed and/or dangerous suspects in custody thanks to K9 Laslo.

By any standards, that's a LOT.

For over a year Deputy Thurman and K9 Laslo have also responded to multiple SWAT calls, and last month they officially joined the Spokane County SWAT team. SWAT is a specialty unit in addition to their regular training and patrol duties, and puts Laslo in even greater danger of being injured by dangerous and violent suspects in extremely volatile situations.

I've had the privilege of watching Deputy Thurman and K9 Laslo in action during multiple training sessions and on the streets, and I've seen how absolutely fearless Laslo is. He enters the unknown every single shift with courage and drive, just wanting to do his job which is whatever Deputy Thurman calls on him to do. On days off Laslo LOVES to play—chasing balls, swimming, running, training—but nothing in the world makes him happier than when his Dad puts on his uniform and they get in their patrol car. No one serves society with more enthusiasm, selflessness and dedication than dogs! They'd work 24/7 if he could.

They do all they can for us, so let's do all we can for them! Like most K9 units nationwide, Spokane County has a limited budget and is unable to provide K9 Laslo with the very best top-notch bulletproof vest. But we can, and will.

With a K9 Storm Patrol-SWAT Vest made especially for his body, Laslo will be better protected on all deployments: tracking, searching, rappelling, extracting and apprehending. Every K9 Storm Patrol-SWAT Vest is custom measured + fitted for each individual dog, equaling full speed and mobility—which results in far better safety. We're also raising money to include a Special Ops Handle, Tactical Entry Lead, and the new Intruder Camera System which will allow Deputy Thurman to actually see what Laslo is seeing, how he's reacting, what to expect, and whether he should call him back. The camera system is interchangeable between vests so Deputy Kullman will be able to use the same camera on K9 Deacon's vest.

It's no secret that it's getting more and more dangerous for our Law Enforcement Officers, both human and canine. Let's help not only Laslo stay safer, but also Deputy Thurman AND the people of Spokane County who greatly benefit from the courageous service these deputies carry out on the behalf of OUR safety on a daily basis.

Your contributions are greatly appreciated! Donations are accepted through GoFundMe, and you can also mail in checks made out to K9 Support NW. Just send a message and I'll give you the mailing address.

Donations of $100 or more will get you an 8x10 autographed photo of Deputy Jeff Thurman and K9 Laslo!

Any surplus funds will be used for additional training and equipment needs for Laslo.

Thank you so much!
