Colorectal Cancer

I have been given the privilege to set up this campaign for my sweet friend Kris Franklin (Bob and Sharon Allen's daughter) who has just been told she has colorectal cancer, She has no insurance. After finding out the news, her husband Tony contacted my husband and told him Kris said; "we will concentrate on spending the rest of our days making good quality time with our family". Well that didn't go over real well with me so I sent Tony a text that said; "We are NOT giving up without a fight! It's just not going to happen." It breaks my heart to know that she, like most of us without insurance are left to feel helpless because the funds are just not available to take on the astronomical medical debts. Thank God for the gofundme site that allows us to reach out to people like you.
For those that do not know, this is her story:
Kris had been dealing with discomfort and pain for some time. A year and a half to be exact. Three months ago she went to the ER and she was told she had hemorrhoids. After trying all the typical treatments and even the home remedies, no sleep (literally) excruciating pain and bouts of weeping, her husband, Tony finally said enough and went to talk to a friend who is a local surgeon here in Prescott, AZ. After telling him what she has been enduring, he requested to see her that very day. What a blessing because the front desk had told Tony the earliest he could get her in was on the 15th of August. Needless to say, this surgeon knew from what Tony had described to him, that it was critical he get to examine her immediately. His concerns were confirmed; she did NOT have hemorrhoids but in fact a tumor... a cancerous tumor. The next step was the colonoscopy and a biopsy which told them that the cancer was in the lining of the rectum and colon. You see we had hopes that it was just rectal cancer, because this surgeon was willing to operate free of charge. However, it is now beyond his scope of practice to operate. His comment was basically, "it is going to be hard to find a surgeon that will take you without insurance." Herein lies the reason for this campaign. Kris is scheduled for a PET Scan next Friday and she will be taking on incredible medical bills. She was turned down by our state insurance, but she is not giving up. She will reapply. Even if they qualify her, we know the radiation, chemotherapy, the countless doctor visits, surgery, medication, etc... will not cover the costs. Our goal is set high in case there is no backup insurance. We are reaching out to all of you to help her pay all these professional specialist that she will be dealing with in these next days/months. Until we get the results of the PETScan, we do not know the severity of her conditon. Please pray for a good report.
It goes without saying why this means so much to us and her family! Just like you, you will do whatever it takes to support your loved one. The Franklins have always been there for us and maybe even for you too. If we were to only donate $5.00 each we could surpass our goal, because I know I can count on you to pass this on to every single person you know.
