Journey 2 Free & Greater Hartford Family Advocacy Center at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center - Awakened Survivor's Retreat - A 3 day, 4 night retreat geared to empowering 30 girls ages 10-17 Reassign The Shame and Speak about the traumas sustained from being sexually abused, raped and trafficked. This retreat will be held in St. Thomas Jamaica, July 11-14th. Due to the sensitivity and legality of the victims, location and identity cannot be disclosed.
This retreat will motivate, elevate and reconstruct the shattered ideals of self-esteem, self-respect, self-worth. We will also help victims to reclaim their dignity by introducing them to self-care techniques and corrective coping skills while starting them on their journey to healing/freedom.

Healing the mind: - Self confidence, trust after betrayal, intro to journaling…
Self-Esteem: - Self-love, self-care, my body & me…
Wellness Exercise: Yoga, meditation, deep breathing, zumba…
Being You: Personal hygiene, first impressions, mock interviews…
Peer Pressure: Healthy relationships, bullying, cyber safety…
Healing: Counseling, peer support, sister's keeper, value your worth, I am not alone (motivational sessions from survivors)
Giveaways: Bag-packs, back to school items, journals, basic hygiene essentials…
Journey 2 Free was founded by Ms. Larissa Rhone a third generation rape survivor who brought charges against her rapist after 30 years and was successful in getting justice. While traveling back and forth between the US and Jamaica for court hearings, her ongoing research led her to this startling fact that, of the 14 parishes in Jamaica, St. Thomas, Ms. Rhone's birthplace has the highest case of incest and child sexual abuse. In fact, they ranked #1. Knowing this, motivated Ms. Rhone to fight for justice, educate, empower, and uplift victims of these atrocities helping them on their journey to freedom.
The funds raised will cover accommodations, food and transportation cost for each participant and 10 facilitators. Funds are needed by June 30th to meet the deadline date of July 1st 2019.
Your support means a great deal. It will ensure that we continue the work we began by helping girls that are in dire need of support to create and form lasting friendships bonds/support and sisterhood.
