Josh's Mitzvah Project

Donation protected
As part of becoming a Bar Mitzvah, I am doing a "Mitzvah project," (community service project). I am raising money for students who do not have enough money to pay for after-school activities in technology.

This summer, I attended a camp where I learned Arduino and Java. These are types of computer programs. I really enjoyed the camp, so I want others to be able to attend camps like it too.

I am raising funds to donate to Louise Archer Elementary School.  About 11% of the students there qualify for the "free or reduced lunch" program because their families don't make a lot of money.  The  PTA hosts two relevant technology programs, both run by Fairfax Collegiate - the same program I attended.  One class is called EV3 Robotics, where they teach you how to program and build a robot. The other class is called Minecraft Modding, where students use computer programming to make modification to the Minecraft game.

Each class costs $264.  So if I raise $264, I can donate enough for one scholarship.  If I raise $528, we will have enough scholarship money for two students.  If I raise $792, which is my goal, that is enough for three students to get these opportunities in the winter session.

In the growing world of technology, I think it's essential for students to have the opportunity to learn technology. It is important that they have a feel for coding and what it's like. Without scholarship funds, especially if their family cannot afford it, they might not be able to have these opportunities.

So please consider donating. Thank you.
