IUS Service Learning Project in Ecuador

Donation protected

Who benefits from our service learning project?
A community of around 500 Quichua indigenous peoples of Ecuador.

Why is it important?
Focusing on children, women, and the community, Indiana University Southeast Service Learning benefits entire families through school suppliles, technology equipment, support of literacy programs, vocational training, and small business advice.

What is the impact so far?
We have witnesses the improvement of education in the areas of health, technology, English, and the newly developed emphasis on the Quichua mother tongue. In addition, we can attest to the communities' eagerness to learn and their greater appreciation for education they are receiving, along with the revival of traditional basket-making as a small business led by the women of the community.

How can you help?
Our service learning project requires funds for:
1) School supplies for 125 children in the school.
2) Basic resources for 45 children in the community childcare.
3) Material and basic equipment for the women's small business.
