Our Mission
The lack of available shelter space leaves many homeless people with no choice but to struggle to survive on the streets. As the weather gets colder it will become even more challenging to get through the days and nights ahead. The Homeless Backpack Initiative, a volunteer program run by Maryland Emergency Response, a 501(c)(3) non-profit disaster relief organization, is a project created to help assist homeless adult men and women in areas of Baltimore and Washington, D.C. by giving them new backpacks filled with some fresh daily-use items, warm winter gear, and hopefully one less thing to worry about. We are a small organization asking for your big help to raise enough money to fill 500 backpacks by the end this year. The approximate cost to fill each backpack is about $20.00 making our projected fund goal $10,000. Please donate to our cause so we can reach not only our fund goal but reach the hearts of the homeless and spread as much holiday cheer as we can to those who need it most.
