Hi All,

My name is Subhajit Mukherjee. I am from Kolkata, India and presently work in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA . I live here with my wife Mousumi Mukherjee & 2 year old daughter. We as a family are going through a very difficult situation and wanted to reach out to you for help. The details of the situation is as follows.

My mother in law Mrs. Bani Banerjee came to visit us from Kolkata India in May 2017. On September 2nd, suddenly she had a brain hemorrhage resulting in major brain strokes. Since then she has been in University of Pennsylvania hospital for two months and then in a nursing home in New Jersey, where she currently is. According to her prognosis, she might not be able to live independently , but she can get better with long term care over time.

The cost of long term care is exorbitant in the USA. Since she is on a visitors visa , she is not eligible for any government grant or charity for her long term care. We arranged some funds for her nursing home stay via our first GoFundMe campaign (campaign link :

Since she is much more stable now, we are actively trying to take her back to India. With her health condition, she needs medical transport. I contacted medical transport companies. The most economical option would be to take her in a commercial plane and it would be one time cost of around $40,000. Once we take her back to India, the long term care will become way more affordable and she will get a bigger runway for recovery.

We are looking to do the transport as soon as the funds are ready.

I wanted to reach out to all for support so that we can save a mother, a grandmother , a wife and a priceless human life. I firmly believe that we all together can turn things around and make the seemingly impossible happen.
