Help the Wesley Center with COVID- 19 Relief

Since 1937, the Wesley Community Service Center’s mission has been to empower the community through essential programs and social activism for the underprivileged residents of Portsmouth, Virginia. Through the power of ministry and philanthropy, we have been able to assist over 3,000 families in 2019 by implementing much needed programming.

I am Renyatta Banks, Executive Director of the Wesley Community Service Center.  We are located in the heart of Portsmouth, VA. Today, I am asking for your help to provide direct COVID-19 relief to the community.

During troubling times, community, villages, and unity are what reconstructs a destabilized society. With the poverty rate of Portsmouth residents exceeding the national average by over 4.5% percentage and an approaching recession, the Wesley Community Service Center is gearing up for action.

Our goal of raising funds for COVID-19 relief will allow us to have a larger impact and improve the livelihood of our community that has relied on our activism for over 80 years.

Each week over 300 families rely on our center for food distribution, emergency assistance as well as Meals on Wheels.  Because of COVID-19 some of the donations that we rely on are drying up we are not able to serve the growing number of family's needing food, clothing and some day’s just a hug.
