After going through a long and strenuous divorce last year, I was left our marital home. Paying for all the bills that were normally split across two incomes was difficult. I had to learn to live with less. It was a frugal life, but I began to feel happier. I wanted to help others, too.
Last fall, my four year old son and I opened our home up to my best friend and her two children. She was going through a separation as well, and needed a roof over her head. We live in a two bedroom house, which is pretty tight quarters for a modern family of five, but we make due. It's hard to pay for a house and that many mouths on one meager income, and it means a lot of sacrifices, but we get by. We currently feed five people on $40 a week, and visit our local food pantry to help supplement.
But now it seems as though everything has converged onto one month. My house taxes, home insurance, and income tax are all due around the same time, totaling $2,500. In a better time, this would've been accomplishable, but after paying my legal fees for my divorce, the well is dry.

I currently have our house on the market, but this isn't the best time of the year to sell. When the house sells, we'll be looking for a new place together. We are a true family, and don't want to split up. But if we lose this house, that might be a possibility.
We are not people who normally ask for assistance. We are people who usually help out others through our volunteer work at our church. We are two strong women who have always done everything ourselves. But this time, we need to ask for help. Please, if you can help keep our family together, we would be so grateful. Thank you!
