This particular bus was built in October 1983 and ran with State Transit until its withdrawal in April 2010. 2556 has been in storage since then - and now is the time to progress its restoration.
The Sydney Bus Museum is seeking donations from interested members and the Community to assist with the purchase of materials and paint supplies to complete the repainting into the original white, orange and brown livery.
Preparation work will be undertaken at Leichhardt by Museum volunteers, and Transport Heritage NSW have kindly offered the use of their paint booth at their Thirlmere workshops to complete the work. The painting will be performed by a Museum member.
Please note, we achieved our original budget target of $5,000 to cover the cost of the exterior repaint. Given the success and interest to complete the project an additional $1,500 is now targeted to help us restore the interior including fittings, seat fabrics and repainting the driver’s cab.
