Summer of Volunteering

My name is Kailey Toia I am a sophomore at Saratoga Springs High School. I am trying to raise money to participate in a community service trip with GLA (Global Leadership Adventures) to Costa Rica this summer.

I am passionate about protecting environment and would love to help teach the local community members about contaminants generated by them that find their way into the ocean, endangering Whale Bay and it's wildlife. We'll work to prevent these contaminates from entering the ocean by building filter systems (called biogardens). We'll clean up the beaches around Whale Bay using cutting-edge GPS mapping technology used by community leaders facilitated by Geoporter. 

I have been a high honor role student since the 6th grade and am currently participating in a 3 year Science Research Project with my school that will earn me 12 credits towards college. This would be a great opportunity for me to deepen my knowledge in the environmental sciences.

We'll also volunteer at a local school and with community organizations to help support ongoing community projects designed to educate the community about recycling, trash, and pollution. The contributions we will make to the marine ecosystem will help sustain its beauty and wildlife for years to come.

I started a Please go fund me page to help with the cost of the trip. At this time my family cannot afford to send me. I would be happy to send you an itinerary to vaildate the work i will be doing. I have saved $500 of babysitting money to put towards the trip and my mom will pay the deposit of $400. Thank you for considering helping me, hopefully i will do great things for our world!!! If i do not go this year i will continue to save and hopefully go next year. Thank you so much.
