Help our family in the Philippines

Donation protected
Hello Everyone,

I am Gemini Aurillo-Singh. My brother Franc and I would like to ask for your kind help. As you know, Tacloban City was the hardest hit in the Philippines by Typhoon Haiyan. It is our birthplace where our father, Gabriel Aurillo, was also born and raised. The town of Burauen, about 40 minutes south of Tacloban, where our mother, Nulfa, is from was not spared either. Immediate family members from both places continue to suffer from this mega-disaster. The worldwide outpouring to give food is so heartwarming and we feel so blessed that everyone survived, including our elderly grandmothers. However, the road to recovery is far from over.

Daniel Burgui Iguzkiza of Action Against Hunger says Tacloban has almost ceased to exist, it "might as well be the end of the world." Throughout Leyte, there is no power, limited food, water, and shelter. As of Nov. 20, 2013, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reports that government and business infrastructures are barely functioning.

We are raising money to help resettle our family to Cebu, Bohol and Manila where rental units or relatives can house them temporarily. Our goal is to raise a total of $25,000 to relocate 19 family members. Two are wheelchair-bound and another two are chronically ill and they will move first.

With all of them losing homes, possession and livelihood, not to mention our young nieces and nephews who have no schools to go to, the fund-raising amount is almost insignificant. And even though we are also blessed to have good jobs, this amount is something we ourselves cannot afford without your help.

We are incredibly grateful for any donation you can offer. Every little bit helps. Please share this page with your family, friends, and co-workers. And please continue to pray for all those affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Many of our parent's friends lost their lives or remain unaccounted for. May God bless the Philippines.

Sincerely,
Gemini Aurillo-Singh, Francis Aurillo & family
