Support King Open School & 2025 FOKORuns Team!
Tax deductible
King Open School is a diverse public elementary school in Cambridge, MA that serves almost 400 students between Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. Named after the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., our school provides a well-rounded education and values social justice, the importance of diversity, and being part of an inclusive and welcoming community.
On June 29th, King Open parents and staff will participate in the Cambridge Summer Classic 5K to raise funds for Friends of the King Open School (FOKO), a non-profit organization founded and led by parents to support all King Open children. This event is our biggest fundraiser every year and enables us to build sustainable funding to support teachers and events all year long.
Each year, FOKO raises funds for:
- An annual stipend for every classroom teacher and most specialists to invest in extra materials or special learning opportunities
- Special speakers and events for King Open families, including Science Day, Book Fair, author visits, and our Carnaval celebration
- Subsidies to make field trips accessible to all students
We need your support to ensure that our vibrant, strong, and supportive learning community is accessible to everyone and that every family is able to participate in all school activities regardless of their financial need.
Our goal is to raise $8,000+! Your tax-deductible donation in any amount is much appreciated. When our team straps on their running shoes, they will be fueled by generous people like you. Please consider donating to support our team and our community today. Thank you!
