Reducing Deforestation in Thailand

Thank you for visiting my fundraising site for my graduate studies.

I’m so grateful for all of those who supported me in completing my first year of courses at the Research Center for Sustainable Development at Chiang Mai University in Northern Thailand.

I will be returning in the fall to begin my thesis research as part of a Canadian based study headed by Peter Vandergeest of York University that is looking at resource management and social justice issues across Southeast Asia. My research focuses on the impacts an United States Agency for International Development initiated ‘payment for environmental services’ economic incentive program on the access of local communities to natural resources in one of the watershed forests of the United Nations Ma-Kog Man and Bioreserve in Northern Thailand.

I feel these policies have huge potential to reduce deforestation and I’m so excited to contribute to this research. I am grateful for any contribution that you can make to assist me in completing this research and my Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development.

Thank you so much for your interest and support!

 With gratitude,
