Get Empowered is celebrating our 5 year Anniversary! Our mission is to empower, elevate and transform children's lives through multicultural and healing arts-education, mindfulness, wellness and inclusion programs.  We started with a dream and 2 small pilot programs in Oakland and NYC. We have grown to become an organization with over 100 extraordinary Teaching Artists from 6 continents. During the summer of 2021 - we took Get Empowered global with programs in Brazil, West and South Africa, Spain and the Caribbean. Additionally, over the past 18 months - we have expanded our work to include more home school and foster children, as well as children of incarcerated parents and children in pediatric hospitals. To date - we have empowered 20,000 kids and each day in a new opportunity to empower even more kids, thanks to support and encouragement from caring people like you! 

In March of 2020, when the world first experienced the shock of shut downs caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, we immediately came together as a team and worked night and day to find ways to pivot all our of resources and programs. We were determined to be of service in any ways possible to provide even more outreach activities to keep kids, communities, families and our teaching artists connected through virtual, digital and video formats.  The community that manifested in the zoom rooms was so heartwarming and hopeful.  We were grateful to see feel and experience  kindness, compassion, love, happiness, creativity, open communication, learning and a safe space for kids of all ages and abilities to not feel alone anymore.  That beautiful sense of community is still in tact as we transition back to in person programming again. 

We have done everything from offering free classes 7 days a week, to providing full and partial scholarships to thousands of kids.  We have new partnerships with schools, families, community based organizations and year round youth serving sites. We are committed to the making sure --no matter what, any child can get empowered! Our in-person and virtual programs support kids with their social emotional wellness, artistic and creative development and learning growth so they can be their best selves. 

Now more than ever we need to help kids and people of all ages feel love, joy, stress relief and connect in positive, inclusive and elevating ways. 

We want to keep our scholarship outreach programs going.  We need help to continue this in on-going ways. Please consider becoming a part of our growing community! Donate what you can to help us provide K-12  schools, after-schools and community organizations on our wait lists with programming opportunities they otherwise cannot access to do funding gaps and countless challenges being faced due to set backs Covid-19 has caused for so many.
