Emi makes the cut: Donating my hair

Donation protected

*Updated*
The fundraiser is now over - any donations made since it's finishing will be donated straight to Action Against Hunger

On Friday the 16th of March I chopped off and donated 20" of hair to The Little Princess Trust.I then proceeded to shave the rest of the hair off in order to raise money for Olivia's Journey and Action Against Hunger.

Since I started fundraising Olivia, who is the 4-year-old sister of my friend at uni has undergone two major brain surgeries, both of which were unable to remove the tumour and now she is undergoing radiotherapy. The money raised will still be going to her family but it may not be used for the same purpose as originally thought.

Action Against Hunger (AAH). As you may already know I will be climbing Machu Picchu to help raise money for AAH, which to give you an idea is 1085m higher than the highest mountain in the UK - This is going to be tough.
Action Against Hunger is an amazing charity which in over 50 countries and aims to end world hunger, one of the ways they are doing this is to ensure half of all children suffering from severe acute malnutrition are being treated by 2020. And by 2030 all of the children who are suffering from severe acute malnutrition are receiving treatment.

So I've decided to be a bit brave, or stupid and cut off my hair for charity. I will chop off at least 12" of hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust and will split the money raised 50:50 between two amazing causes.

The first cause I am fundraising for is Olivia's Journey. Olivia is my Uni friends 4-year-old sister. Sadly their family have just been informed her brain cancer has returned. Olivia was first diagnosed with a rare type of a brain tumour in October 2014, and sadly after two brain surgeries and countless rounds of chemotherapy, her cancer has returned. This means she and her parents are having to fly to the US in order to receive Proton Beam Therapy, following a third operation.
The money raised will help support her and her family throughout this treatment during their time in America.

The other cause I am raising money for is Action Against Hunger (AAH).

I will be making the chop sometime around March 2018 (which gives you plenty of time to donate), and the amount of hair I cut off will depend on how much I raise.
For £1000 I will chop off 12" of hair
For £2000 I will chop off my whole ponytail (before trim it is 17")
For £3000 I will donate the whole ponytail and shave my whole head (The little extra that is shaved off won't be donated, but some people have said they would donate if I added this option).

This is a huge deal for me because I take a lot of pride in my hair, and often use it to hide behind, so it's going to force me way out of my comfort zone. I am honestly so nervous to chop it all off, but know it is for some amazing causes! It would mean so much to me and all the people I am supporting for you to donate. A little or a lot, it all makes a huge difference!
