Elyana's Gift of Light Project

Hi, for those that don't know me my name is Elyana Goren! Before I start telling you about this page and what you can do to help, I will tell you a little bit about myself and my family. For starters, I was adopted.  I came from a long line of Fijian ancestors, though I am nearly 100% Fijian, I found out  through DNA test that I am 7% ashkinazi jew, like my dad and 7% Irish, like my mom! My family consists of my mom, my dad, my sister, and my fish (Poseidon).  My dad and I are the surfers in the family, although my mom does surf (only in warm waters), but my sister, you can't pay her a million dollars to surf!  Never the less, my family is planning an amazing trip, to the secluded island of Tavarua, Fiji to connect me to my heritage.

Here is where I need your help:   we learned that the island of Fiji has constant power outages that last for days or even weeks in the villages.  As a Ttzedakah (give back) project for my Bat Mitzvah, I have a goal to raise enough money to purchase personal solar lights, called LuminAid, for the families who work on the island. By donating money to my cause you will not only succeed in helping many families receive light, you will be helping them charge their phones for much needed communication! I hope that together we will be able to raise $3,000 which is enough money to buy not one but two LuminAid lights, for each family!  We are planning on donating anything over our goal to their education fund.
