Dearest family and friends, colleagues, artists, angels, and lovers of the Theater:
It is with much excitement, anticiapation, and great pride that I share my official acceptance into an incredible M.F.A. program known as Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting (ACA). With a competitive acceptance rate of 12%, and an impressive faculty, ACA is a singular program that allows the student to work closely with the Tony Award winning, Shakespeare Theatre Company in D.C. Unlike most grad programs where 60 credits are done over the span of two or even three years, ACA grad students accomplish 60 credits in just one year. This makes ACA the only one year M.F.A. program in the United States. I am humbled to have this opportunity. The cost of the program is nearly $40,000 and with the cost of living in DC, I anticipate needing at least $50,000. So as you can imagine, I really need your help. I would be forever grateful for any assistance or contribution you might make towards my next adventure.
Why this? Why now?
After retiring as a dancer, I found myself with a void in my life. I was missing the ARTS and creativity that I was immersed in for nearly 30 years as a dancer. The theater and acting helped fill this void.
The past 10 years have been filled with many wonderful experiences on stage and now it's time to take my craft more seriously. Spending a year in this dynamic immersive program will certainly be life and career changing. As well, because this is considered a "terminal degree" it will open doors to teaching at the University Level.
The colossal triumph of getting into my top choice program, comes with a mammoth price tag. ACA's program, (with its unique one year format), is not fully funded. Living in Washington D.C. is no easy feat as a full time student. I am about to embark on a $54,000 year.
Living Expenses: $17,000
