Africa/Mozambique Mission

Dear Family and Friends,

The most wonderful opportunity has landed in my lap! I and a handful of others (including our daughter Tricia) will head to Africa in December. We will work with orphans, fish and tree farms, rehabilitation centers (drugs, alcohol and behavior additions) and prisoners at the local prisons.
Specifically we will be in Mozambique from December 3^rd for 2 weeks to work at the orphanage, the Tilapia Farm and feeding programs, youth, political leaders, government officials, pastors, ministers, business professionals, and more. Here is a little bit of information about Mozambique that is compelling us to go on this trip.


- 2,100,000 children have lost one or both of their parents due to death.

- 670,000 children have lost one or both of parents due to AIDS.

- 130,000 children are HIV positive from birth.

- The life expectancy is only 52 years due to the underdeveloped and hostile conditions of the nation.

- Mozambique is ranked the 4^th poorest nation in the world by the United Nations.

The trip to Africa is being jointly hosted by two non-profit organizations: Bellasnova Foundation (bellasnova.org) and Healing Wings (healingwings.co.za). The Bellasnova Foundation is headquartered in Houston. Ron and I are fortunate enough to work with it founder on a daily basis on a project in Houston's Fifth Ward. His local and global mission is to improve economic opportunities, elevate community residence, and cultivate professional development and overall quality of life. I see his local work change lives daily. I have had the privilege of working for some of the best of the best in Property Management over my career and with all due respect to where I have been, nothing...And I mean nothing... has left me this fulfilled at the end of the day. And to be invited to participate in the work in South Africa and Mozambique... I know it will change not only my life but that of the local villagers as well. Healing Wings is a non-profit that is headquartered in South Africa and Mozambique with a mission to restore within an individual the capacity to make informed life decisions, which are not dictated by circumstance, addiction, or compulsion. We will be working alongside them during our stay.

Both of these amazing organizations are engaged in a variety of ministry, humanitarian, and entrepreneurial initiatives that I'm thrilled to take a part in on this trip. Bellasnova has recently assumed the responsibility for the orphanage Alulumile Children's Village and begun construction for an outdoor learning center in addition to their responsibility of operating the feeding program and farm. Bellasnova has contributed over $1 million to the humanitarian efforts in Mozambique and is committed to saving and extending children's lives, improving the quality children's lives, and giving children the chance to answer their higher calling to change the nation and world they were born into.
