Cycling with Wounded Warriors
I am raising money on behalf of the non-profit organization Ride 2 Recovery. My boyfriend, Kenny, was wounded in Iraq in 2007. He suffered many injuries but most traumatic was the amputation of his right arm. He started cycling with Ride 2 Recovery and he noticed that the physical and mental gains really helped with his recovery. He has done several rides with the organization and I was fortunate enough to do a one day ride in September from Quincy, MA to Providence, RI with Kenny and other wounded warriors. Kenny and I plan on doing Ride 2 Recovery's "Italy Challenge" this summer. We have been training hard on the indoor trainer and are looking forward to the snow melting so we can get out on the road.
Ride 2 Recovery's mission is "to make a difference in the lives of healing heroes by providing a rehabilitation experience that can impact their lives forever." They believe that no injury can keep someone off of a bicycle and they modify any bicycle to keep this promise. If have often heard the wounded vets say to each other.... "cycling works," and they are all living proof. For more information feel free to check out their website at Ride2recovery.com
