Coral Brown’s Wish
On March 26th 2020 my brother and I lost our beloved mother, Coral Brown. She had fallen extremely ill a couple of days beforehand and unfortunately did not respond to any treatments in the hospital because of complications with her Lupus and COPD.
This has been extremely difficult for my brother and I. Everything’s happened so fast, to the point we haven’t felt that we’ve been able to grieve properly.
I set up this GoFundMe to help us raise money for our mum’s funeral and burial, so we can give our mum her wish and have the funeral that she’d want and deserves.
Mum’s wish
Our mum grew up in a children’s home and only got to spend the weekends with her father, our granddad, who passed away back in March 1982. He was the only parent she’d gotten to know. Mum would share stories with me about granddad and siblings she did not grow up with, during which she expressed to me that she’d like to be buried next to granddad if she could.
Why this is important to us
Our mum was a loving, caring woman and quite the comedian. She always made us and her friends laugh and was always smiling. Even though she had many health issues she never let it change her big loving heart, nor take away her smile or laugh. She was a strong fighter and she has passed on these qualities to my brother and I. This funding is extremely important to us because it had always been the three of us, but now it’s just me and my brother.
In a bit of a crossroads
My brother and I are working towards granting mum’s wish. We recently found out where granddad is buried but it is a private cemetery, and a new grave is rather costly with funeral fees. Burial alone would be between £9000 and £10,000 which is why we need all the help we can.
There’s space for mum to be buried with granddad, which would bring the cost down dramatically and grant mum’s wish completely. However, we also need permission for this from her sister, who is the last owner of granddad’s grave. Unfortunately, we never got to know all mum’s siblings on her dad’s side, so right now we’re at a halt.
We’ve finally booked the funeral for 1st July, but we still need your help and appreciate every donation we receive. In the meantime, we’re doing our best to find mum’s sister for permission to take ownership of granddad’s grave, this is mum’s wish that we’d love to give her.
