Volunteer trip to Moria RegugeeCamp

Hola! My name is Coni Moncaglieri and I’m going to volunteer in Moria Refugee Camp in Lesbos, Greece. I’m going with an organisation called Youth With a Mission to work in junction with another organisation called EuroRelief.

Asylum seekers come from different nations in conflict and/or persecution. They flee their countries and, in this case, they make their way to the island to ask for asylum in Europe.  

In the camp, refugees and new arrivals await their papers and the results of their asylum requests (either continuing on to greater Europe through mainland Greece or returning to Turkey). 

The work in the camp mainly consists of distributing food, clothing and other hygiene products, working at an information tent, and assisting with housing. We will be working 8 - 9 hours a day for 6 days per week followed by one day off. 

I’m travelling on the 28th of November until the 16th of January. and my goal is to raise £1500 before the 28th of November. The money will be used to cover the expenses of the trip: flights, transportation within the island and to the airport, food and accommodation.

Hola! Mi nombre es Coni Moncaglieri y voy a trabajar de voluntaria en el Campo de Refugiados Moria en Lesbos, Grecia.

Voy con una organización que se llama Juventud Con una Misión a trabajar junto con EuroRelief.

Las personas que llegan al campo en busca de asilo vienen de diferentes naciones en donde hay conflicto interno y/o persecución. Huyen de su país y, en este caso, llegan a la isla para pedir asilo en Europa. 

En el campo, refugiados y los recién llegados esperan sus papeles y los resultados de la solicitud de asilo (para continuar al resto de Europa o volver a Turquia, de donde vinieron).

El trabajo en el campo consiste mayormente en distribuir comida, alimentos y artículos de higiene personal, también asistiendo con las viviendas y en la carpa de informaciones. Estaremos trabajando entre 8 y 9 horas diarias por 6 días a la semana y un día de descanso.

Voy a viajar el 28 de Noviembre hasta el 16 de Enero y mi objetivo es recaudar £1500 antes del 28. El dinero recaudado sera usado para cubrir los gastos del viaje: vuelos, transporte en la isla y hacia el aeropuerto, comida y hospedaje.
