Complete the Audubon Park Rock Scramble

Tax deductible

In 2021, two climbing structures were added to the small-child play area at Audubon Park in Spokane, WA. The Jess Roskelley Foundation provided funding for the purchase and installation of the structures. Jess Roskelley, a lifelong Spokane native, perished in 2019 while climbing in the Canadian Rockies. The Jess Roskelley Foundation exists to promote public projects and outdoor activities that will benefit generations to come and provide access to the wild places cherished by Jess, while preserving his legacy as an international alpinist.

Additional plans call for installing a rock scramble on a sloping hillside north of the play area. The cost for the purchase and installation of the materials is $12,000. This year, the Jess Roskelley Foundation pledged an additional $5000, and the Audubon-Downriver Neighborhood Council pledged $1000 to complete the project. The Audubon Downriver Neighborhood Council created this GoFundMe page to raise the remaining $6000. We aim to meet this goal by the end of 2022, so construction can begin in the spring of 2023.

Audubon Park is a popular community park in northwest Spokane that attracts residents from all income levels. It is a popular destination for family gatherings, with several outdoor play features for children of all ages. Until recently, the small child (2-5 yrs) play area has been underserved. Adding the climbing structures and the rock scramble will encourage our youngest park visitors to use their strength and balance skills in a playful setting.
