On  June 3, 2017, Clint Whitley a man loved and known by many people  was taken suddenly and senselessly.  This tragic loss has  generated some  unexpected costs for a young widowed mother and Clint's 5 year old son Colton.  They are not only  grieving for the loss  of  Clint and  the wonderful Father Figure he has been in Colton's life,  But now  they are  about to  feel an immediate increase in  expenses with the loss of  Clint and his ability to provide for them.  We thought we would pray and ask for your help  for the upcoming expenses for  Taylor  and Colton.  They  will be grateful for any blessings that you  offer.  As part of a proper send off for our friend let's make this time a little less horrible for Colton and Taylor.

Mooresville man charged with murder in hit-and-run

A 23-year-old Mooresville man has been charged with second degree murder following a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian near Mooresville on Saturday.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that the incident occurred on Brook Glen Drive -- off Shinnville Road north of Mooresville -- when deputies received a report of a man being struck by a vehicle. They found 32-year-old Clinton D. Whitley lying in the road “with injuries consistent with being run over by a vehicle.”

An investigation determined that Davidson Christopher Hollister, 23, of Mooresville was the driver of the truck that reportedly failed to slow down or stop after striking the victim, deputies said.

Deputies said the Hollister, the victim and others had been at a party on Brook Glen Drive. Witnesses indicated that later in the evening a conflict occurred between Hollister and the victim. The conflict is believed to be over a female both the men knew that was also present at the party.

Moments before the incident a witness observed Hollister while in his truck exchange words with the victim who was on foot deputies said.

Witnesses stated that Hollister drove backwards into the grass, then forward onto the roadway apparently spinning tires in both directions. Evidence indicates that Hollister then ran over the victim who was in the roadway and fled the scene, deputies said.

Hollister was located later and once the initial evidence was gathered he was taken into custody. Once in custody Detectives obtained a search warrant to collect blood evidence from the suspect.

Hollister was charged with second degree murder and felony hit and run. He is jailed on a $1 million secured bond, and additional charges are expected, the sheriff’s office said.
