On Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 Cle Elum, WA City Council voted 5-2 to approve a motion to authorize Mayor Lundh to file Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy, and hire John Kaplan of Stoel Rives LLP as counsel for this purpose.
WeHeartCleElumRoslyn, SPC (WHCER) is forming a PAC (Political Action Committee) to fund, organize efforts, and community support to change the form of Cle Elum's government from a Council-Mayor form, to a Council-Manager form. We will share more on this as time permits, but here is a link to understand the basic differences.
We are also moving to recall, remove, and replace members of the City of Cle Elum Council/Mayor, Kittitas County Commissioners, CERPD Police Chief/Officers, and others who appear to be acting in ways that are contrary to the offices they were elected and hired to, and not in the community's best interests.
We have established a GoFundMe campaign for this. We propose that these funds are used to establish the PAC, hire counsel, and organize these efforts. We have discussed this with Pete Serrano, Jackson Maynard, and others at both state and federal levels. They have all expressed interest in taking this on and seeking change in Kittitas County and the City of Cle Elum.
