Christmas Miracle on Broadway - MCK

Donation protected

 Hello,

I know once she sees this she is going to kill me!! You see, Miss Carol is a giver not a taker so she wouldn’t ever ask for help. She leaves it in Gods hands. If you’ve ever had a Miss Carol you consider yourself richer than life. To me she is George Bailey from It’s a Wonderful Life.

She has put every last penny she has trying to save the school. I know the amount I put seems far stretched but you just never know what simple acts-of kindness people are willing to do. Especially for someone who has given so much! Usually this time of year Miss Carol is having her annual Christmas on Broadway show but instead I’m praying for a Christmas Miracle on Broadway instead. The money will help Miss Carol during this difficult time and depending how much is raised we are hoping Miss Carol will be able to cover all the expenses that still need to be paid for the business that she has lost due to Covid. After your passed retirement age no one wants to put themselves further into debt with loans  especially when you’ve spent everything you have trying to save what you love. She isn’t ready to retire and say goodbye. The worst is being forced to close doors when your not ready. When it was completely out of her hands and nothing she did wrong. This has been her baby and if we raise enough she won’t have to have more of that heavy burden when her heart is already so heavy. It’s like you’ve lost thousands of children. Lauren who wrote the following paragraphs is a loving mother whose son is now 21 years old,  a published author, went to Miss Carol’s school when he was younger. Her son was diagnosed with PDD at age 5 1/2 basically because Carol saw something wrong. There isn’t anyone I know more deserving then this incredible person your about to learn about.

I’m going to share  this story about not only a daycare and kindergarten but a beloved business and an amazing, selfless, tireless advocate, teacher & owner, Carol Couture who has run Methuen Community Kindergarten and Daycare. This kindergarten was the first private Kindergarten to open in the state of Ma in 1953 and Carol was and is the owner. For 43 years this school has been her joy, love and she spent probably more time at the school then at home. She is a single mom who raised two children who both went into teaching because of their mom’s example.

Carol has devoted her life to this business which she does not even think of as business but an extension of her family. All her former and present students are all her “kids.” She has seen generations of families send their kids and then those kids grow up and have kids and they become students and so on.  She has always put on a big Christmas show every year and has a big celebration when each child graduates from Kindergarten. Many of Carol’s students are differently abled and received not only an education but a nurturing and understanding environment and in Carol, advice and advocate for the parents and caretakers of these special children. Which has led to inspiration of helping others from the help these parents received. This is another of Carol’s incredible gifts.

Just imagine that not only you had to close your business for Covid reasons for several months and your “kids” and families that counted on you for a reasonable and safe haven need to come up with different options. Then, throw in the space that has been used for teaching, playing and molding these young minds for 67 years, makes the difficult decision to not have the space available. On top of that, you only have a small allotted time to “get rid of “or sell all that makes a daycare a daycare. Not to mention your only source of income has been eliminated, oh and right around the Holidays.  In this world, we have seen amazing acts of kindness and love and Miss Carol always represented the best of what humanity offers, selfless, honorable, loving and putting herself last. Now is the time, that others step up and lend a hand to a local friend and neighbor that has given so much and needs a helping hand and a hug and any help that you can give. If you have been fortunate enough to have dealings with Carol and her daycare, you can call yourself lucky, and if you have children that have gone to her school, or you are one of the students that used to go there, you can call yourself part of her special family. If not, read this and be inspired to give.

If you have a special story that you would like to share about Carol or the school, please share with us so we can share it with the family.
