Hit and Run left Christopher Down and Out.

Hello,

Earlier this year I was hospitalized and have been struggling to get back on my feet these past few months since. This week, a huge roadblock entered my path.

On Tuesday October 10, I was hit by a car on my bike coming home from a class I was taking at Second City in Chicago, IL. The driver and passengers of the vehicle moved me and my belongings to the sidewalk, piled my belongings next to me and left me laying on the sidewalk as they drove away.

Gratefully the accident wasn’t life threatening, however I was left with a severely broken elbow that requires surgery, physical therapy, and a good amount of recovery time.

I am employed as a server and therefore will not be able to work in my position for the next 3-5 months. I plan to try and be scheduled as a host when I am able after surgery, however the hourly rate for a host and the number of hours available will only allow me to make a fraction of my normal income. The loss of income and new medical bills will have a devastating affect on me.

The state of Illinois does not offer short term disability unless you are denied a workers comp claim and my employer is a newer company without an employee assistance program nor short term disability options.

With these circumstances and limited family members still alive, I don’t know how else to survive this moment, so I am asking for help from those who are able and are moved to do so.

I appreciate those who even visit this page and consider helping. I am humbled and grateful for those who are able to help in any way.

With humility and gratitude,
Christopher Heinze
