Intro:
Anyone that has met Cherie Spooner, remembers Cherie Spooner! She is such a kind, friendly, and generous person. The first time I met Cherie we were at a cross race, which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that knows her! What was a surprise was how she opened her home to myself and others during the race season. She somehow finds the time to train hard, race hard and is always jumping up to help others in their personal lives and volunteer at the races.
What happened:
Cherie has been dealing with health issues throughout the year. She received an official diagnosis in October 2018 with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Cherie began her first round of chemotherapy before thanksgiving and will continue throughout most of 2019. They have a multifaceted approach to attack this to create a positive outcome. It will be a very long and expensive process.
Where will the funds go?:
The medical costs for Cherie’s treatment plan with be very expensive. They are estimating out of pocket cost of 40,000 for the treatment costs in San Antonio. They are looking into additional treatment at MD Anderson, which will be out of pocket.
Why this matters:
Most of us have been impacted by cancer in our lives; family, friends or maybe a personal experience. It sucks. There is no other way to say it. What I do know is that Cherie needs our support physically, financially, and emotionally. They say it takes a village. Cherie is a part of our village and this time she needs our help. One of my favorite qualities about Cherie is her tenacity and stubbornness! Though this also means she is a bit more bullheaded to ask for the support she needs. We are asking you to help support Cherie in her time of need.
