Viva Colombia!

Hola! Very recently, I accepted a fellowship to teach English in Colombia, South America. This opportunity of a lifetime will allow me to combine many of my passions- volunteering, social entrepreneurship, diversity, cultural immersion, and travel. The fellowship is through Atlas Corps, www.atlascorps.com, and begins in January 2014 (so soon!). From the Atlas Corps Web site, Atlas Corps is an international network of nonprofit leaders and organizations that promotes innovation, cooperation, and solutions to address the world's 21st century challenges. Their mission is to address critical social issues by developing leaders, strengthening organizations, and promoting innovation through an overseas fellowship of skilled nonprofit professionals.

I'm incredibly excited to be given this opportunity! Through this site, I am asking for a bit of help so I may participate healthily and as prepared as possible. Some of my pre-travel expenses include pricey vaccinations (ouch!), a couple of prescriptions for preventing malaria and other diseases, appropriate luggage, and of course, my plane ticket. Since I have not played and/or won the lottery, I'm hoping that with a lot of fundraising, your generosity, and a bit of luck I can reach my ultimate goal and head to Colombia in January 2014.
