On August 13th, two unmarked cars blocked Carlos' car as he waited at a stop sign on his way to work. A neighbor ran to the family's home with the news: ICE had taken Carlos!

Carlos came to America when he was a year old. He grew up with his mom, dad and two sisters in Rocky Mount, NC.

Carlos went to school in the community and was baptized in the Southern Baptist church as a young teen. He played sports, did well in school, and was a typical NC country boy.

Carlos' father was a violent person and domestic violence was a daily occurrence in the home. Carlos was 14 when his father went to prison for abusing his children. The news spread across their small town and he was relentlessly bullied in school and so he dropped out. He began working in the local farm fields and restaurants to support his mom and sisters.

From the age of 14, Carlos became the primary supporter of his mom, his sisters, and his nieces and nephews. Through his mother's extended illness and his sister's kidney transplant, he served as a caregiver, provider, driver, and tutor to the five children as well.

Ever since Carlos testified about the abuse we suffered, our family has received death threats from Carlos' father's family in Mexico. The threats of revenge for putting his abuser in jail continue to this day. When the local paper published that Carlos had been arrested, hostile individuals began calling Stewart Detention Center to threaten Carlos directly.

We need your help! Please, help us pay our lawyer so Carlos has a chance.
