Help send kids to camp!!!

Light My Fire is a benefit I started last year and will hopefully continue every year.This benefit is to raise money to help parents send their children to Camp Flame Catcher ( A camp for kids with Epilepsy)
I started volunteering at the camp the summer of 2013. Now, I go anytime I have a chance. I think it’s a great experience that makes you look differently at yourself and life in general. All of the little things we take for granted, such as brushing your teeth, showering, getting dressed, or eating, we can do in a short amount of time or by ourselves. However, one of the kids could have one or multiple seizures in a short amount of time that could last seconds, minutes, or hours and make them sleep the rest of the time. Also, one of the biggest things we take for granted is having the chance to drive a car. Most of these kids can’t drive and rely on friends and family to get anywhere. It’s just amazing to see what these kids can do and accomplish considering what they go through. At summer camp, one of the counselor’s told me about one of the teens in her group that had been rock wall climbing. The teen made it to the top of the wall. She slipped a few times while climbing, but that is expected. When she came down, she said that she counted 7 or 8. The counselor asked her 7 or 8 what? She replied, “Seizures”. This teen had 7 or 8 seizures while climbing the rock wall, but still made it to the top.
I know I cannot help every family, but I would like to help as many as I can. The kids have a great time and feel comfortable around everyone, because they don’t feel like they are being judged or stared at when they have a seizure. It’s a place for them to feel normal and be carefree.
